Ideas for keeping children busy while travelling in a camper

Finally, a camping holiday! But long journeys in a camper can be very tiring for children and parents. After just a few minutes in the camper, you'll usually hear from the back seat "when are we finally getting there?" or "how long will it be?"

To make the journey to your camping holiday as entertaining as possible, we have put together a list of some ideas for keeping children busy while travelling in your caravan or motorhome.

We have collected various toys, entertainment media, books and interactive games for you that might make the one or two hour journeys in your motorhome easier.

What we always have with us in our motorhome are:

Toys:

  • small vehicles and/or stealth animals
  • a funny hand puppet
  • Magnetic blocks (these blocks do not fall down easily)
  • Children's Play Dough

Reading, crafting & painting

  • Picture books and books to read aloud
  • Magic board/magnetic board
  • WaterWow Coloring Books
  • Sticker books
  • Pens and coloring book or drawing pad

Entertainment media:

  • Audiobooks with children's headphones (the headphones are worth their weight in gold! ;) )
  • Tiptoi pen and book
  • Videos for emergencies already selected and downloaded if necessary

To keep the children’s things from getting mixed up in the motorhome, you can

You can use our seagrass basket or the cute seagrass fox basket from Bloomingville so that you always have all of your children's toys close at hand and neatly together when you go on your camping holiday.

Games:

Interaction games such as:

  • “I see what you don’t see”,
  • “blue cars count” or
  • “I pack my suitcase and take with me...”

Snacks & Treats:

  • lots of small snacks like bars or sliced ​​fruit/vegetables, preferably already prepared in a small container like ours from Koziol.
  • something tasty to drink that the children can drink independently (e.g. drink packets)

Exercise breaks are also important for children on long trips in the camper. For example, you can go to playgrounds and play football or hide-and-seek together to let them burn off some energy.
