10 Ikea hacks for your motorhome

Posted by Rebecca Andresen on

Who doesn't know it? At least every household has at least one IKEA product at home. It is precisely the original transformation of the actual function that makes IKEA products simply unavoidable for almost every room. And that is exactly why the Ikea hacks for your mobile home, caravan or van are very efficient. Because they can usually add a lot of functionality for little money.

Ikea hacks for your motorhome, caravan, van

Standard products such as pillows, blankets, cutlery or other kitchen items are not mentioned here because they can of course be used anywhere and are not necessarily Ikea's hack for your motorhome.

1. Artificial plants

Artificial plants are perfect as an Ikea hack in your motorhome or caravan

The most popular IKEA hacks for campers are probably artificial plants. They bring a sense of nature into the caravan or motorhome, and at the same time you don't have to worry about regular watering or fluctuating temperatures. Even if you make the camper winterproof, these are the things that can safely stay in the camper and don't have to be removed.

In addition to the plastic pots, the artificial plants also look great in a hanging basket . To attach them, simply attach a hook to the wall with double-sided adhesive tape and hook it in.

Here you can find the IKEA artificial plants .

2. Hanging storage for the camping bathroom

The 10 Ikea hacks for your motorhome

This hanging storage unit, NORDRANA (€19.99) from IKEA, is relatively new. It can be hung on a hook above the camping toilet or on the door. Larger items that are often used in the camping bathroom, such as hair dryers, brushes or deodorant bottles, find their perfect place here.

3. Basket with suction cup

Basically, anything that can be attached with a suction cup is a pretty clever thing to have in a camper. Not everyone is brave enough to drill a screw into the thin wall of their new camper. IKEA has quite a few basket variants with suction cup attachment. They are particularly ideal for camping bathrooms or showers. If you don't like the white TISKEN baskets , you could perhaps spray paint them in your favorite color.

Tip:

However, it should be noted that suction cups only hold on completely smooth surfaces. This means that as soon as the inside wall of the camper has a certain structure and is rough, the suction cups no longer hold well.

Therefore, the suction cups with the basket hold particularly well in the shower or on the mirror.

4. Tablet holder

The tablet holder as an Ikea hack for your motorhome for the cozy evening hours

For cozy movie nights in your camping bed, with a glass of wine (we recommend the Superglas wine glass) on the sofa corner in your motorhome or caravan, for recipes while you're standing in the camping kitchen, or just relaxing in front of your camper on the outdoor carpet in the sun with your Kindle or tablet on the holder. The SIGFINN mobile phone holder (€4.99) is incredibly versatile for camping holidays.

For just €2.50 there is also a larger version ISBERGET , which is also designed for tablets. And if you are looking for a small, flat version, for both tablet and mobile phone, check out the BERGENES for €2.99  to.

5. Light and slim hangers

Most people have a hanging option in their motorhome or caravan. And before you get to the heavy wooden coat hangers that will probably rattle on your way to your camping holiday, these SPRUTTIG coat hangers from IKEA are ideal for hanging clothes in your camping closet.

For just €1.80 for 10 SPRUTTIG clothes hangers you can hardly go wrong.

6. Charger with 3 USB outputs

Among the 10 Ikea hacks for your motorhome, the charger with 3 USB outputs is definitely one of them

We all know it, there are neither enough sockets nor USB ports in the camper. Be it the battery for the camera, the drone, the cell phone or the Go-Pro. There is usually always something plugged in that needs to be charged. With the KOPPLA charger (for €6.99) you can significantly reduce the problem and charge three devices at the same time from one socket in the camper.

7. Perforated plate as wall organizer

Decorative wall organizer as an Ikea hack for your motorhome

This SKADIS wooden board (for €10) with holes measuring 36x56cm should fit in most caravans or motor homes. The perforated board is ideal as a wall organizer because you can use clips to attach important information as well as decorative elements. In order to attach the board properly, however, you would have to screw it into the wall at least twice.

But the camper brand Adria also seems to have liked the idea of this wall so much that they actually included the wall in their newer Altea model.

The wooden top is also available in white for the same price.

8. Spice rack as an all-rounder

Probably one of the most popular Ikea hacks for your motorhome: The spice rack as an all-rounder

Probably one of the classic IKEA hacks for campers. The BEKVÄM spice rack for only €2.99 . It is as simple as it is versatile. On the one hand, of course, as a classic spice rack for the camping kitchen, but also as a book holder for the sleeping area. Children's books in particular are often and happily used here, as they are not as thick and a little lighter. But it also serves well as a storage space for small items such as sunglasses, car keys, flyers for offers on camping holidays or campsites and other small decorative items. The shelf can be easily glued on or attached with two small screws.

9. Very light picture frames

For an individual touch in your camper, there are the FISKBO or YLLEVA D picture frames for just €0.80 per frame. They are so light that they can easily be attached to the wall as a collage with double-sided tape.

10. Mattress protector

We definitely recommend mattress protectors for all mattresses in your camper. If something spills on the mattress during breakfast in bed or other liquids during your camping holiday, there is hardly any possibility of moving to the guest room for the night. We particularly recommend that families with children use IKEA mattress protectors for their caravan or motorhome.
